The John Deere M was a two-cylinder row-crop tractor produced by Deere & Company in Dubuque, Iowa, USA. It was introduced in 1947 as a replacement for the H, L, and LA models. The M was the first tractor to be produced at Deere’s new Dubuque factory and was the first to use Deere’s Touch-O-Matic hydraulic system. PTO and electric starting were standard features. The M had a 1.6L 2-cylinder gasoline engine, 4-speed unsynchronized gear transmission, and mechanical expanding shoe brakes. The tractor weighed 2600 lbs and had a rear PTO transmission with a rear RPM of 540. The M was produced in four variants: the M utility, MT row-crop, MC crawler, and MI industrial models. A total of 45,799 units were built from 1947 to 19521. |
